Siouxsie is back!

I just found out that Siouxsie Sioux, one of my all time favorite artists of the punk/goth era is coming out with a new album soon… It will be interesting to see when she might be touring again…

GNOD

Very interesting search engine… (e.g., especially when looking to discover new music similar to your tastes).

The Global Network of Dreams

Also something amusing that I found by accident in the middle of my noctunal search for new music.

Hoover what?

[google:Hooverphonic]. Interesting name for a musical group from Belgium. Even though I had seen the name floating around on the net for a while, I had actually first heard them in Chilé through a fellow Belgian, and my first impression was that I wasn’t impressed. Then I thought no more of it…

Off!

I am trying to get my Jazzanova collection together to listen to selected tracks to put on my mp3 player for the long trip to Chilé tomorrow (I mean today). Look at the time already… it really does fly.

Another Fine Day…

First time in a bit that I’ve posted in a while… I’ve been spending time listening to old and new things. Making small new discoveries as usual.

Moz

Today, I was working diligently on some projects at work today, listening to an archived Janice Long radio show on BBC featuring Moz (Oh… that’s Morrissey’s nick for those who don’t know). The pics on the BBC Web site show the 43 year old looking much older (hints of gray) and more distinguised (than I remember him) these days. His life in California hasn’t been unkind to him at all… Believe it or not, it’s the first time I’ve actually heard his soft Mancunian speaking voice. It’s one thing to hear it in song, and another to actually hear it spoken…

Music time

As for the other two CDs, the “discovery” artists (and they both happen to be French), I bought 30 by known resident Hacienda DJ (at least before The Hacienda closed down), Laurent Garnier and Music Kills Me by « rinôçerôse ».

Music yet again

I heard two divine songs this evening after listening to a Garage/House music stream. Actually, I found out that the actual the name of the collaborative duo is Live Element (Gossip Records) and the two songs that I heard (Dejame Soñar and Can’t Let You Go feat. Neilla) were recorded under a different production name, Native New Yorkers.

CD finds

One of my interesting finds in September of last year was something I will still call my “porno” CD ;) . I was listening to a track on a streaming radio program and it happened to be one by Nick Faber called Same Girl, Different Wig. I really liked the track and wondered where it was released so I could get the CD. So began my extensive search for it… I found out surprisingly that it was on a seemingly obscure double CD from the UK called Suck It and See, and produced by none other than Howie B. under his Pussyfoot label. It is his musical tribute to exotica and features samples of his favourite porn films. The titles are extra fabulous—I had a good laugh. So here we have two CDs with some good artists, although be warned that CD 2 has a lot more vocal excerpts/moaning samples on it. CD 2 has a good track by Deadly Avengers called In Pursuit of the Pimp Mobile. I will try to share musical wealth when I can. ;)

More on music

More on music (currently listening to That Feelin’ by The Rurals [Franco, take that as a hint of a recommendation for the love of Rhodes!])…
